Graveside services for Carmen A. Henson, 80 of Hobbs, will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at Prairie Haven Cemetery officiated by Dale Shook. Visitation will be 2 5 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Monday at Chapel of Hope. Carmen died April 11, 2012, at her home in Hobbs. She was born January 26, 1932, in Panhandle, TX, to Henry and Delia Dunaway. She married Harmon A. Chuck Henson January 22, 1954, in Hobbs.
Carmen lived in Hobbs for fiftyeight years. She came to visit family and met and married Chuck and they celebrated fiftyeight years together. Carmen was an avid bowler, bowling for fifty years, holding numerous elected offices. She was also in charge of the junior bowlers for twelve years. Carmen enjoyed genealogy and she was a member of the Southeastern New Mexico Genealogical Society. Carmen worked for the VA for fourteen years and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved gardening and she delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. Carmen was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving Carmen is her husband, Harmon A. Chuck Henson, of Hobbs a daughter, Lori Scarbrough, and husband Mike, also of Hobbs grandson, Michael Scarbrough, and wife Kindra, of Caney, OK greatgranddaughters, Alexis and Kalee Scarbrough, of Caney, OK sisterinlaw, Molly Dunaway, of Tulsa, OK and her brotherinlaw, Ray Butler, of Florida.
Preceding her in death were her parents and seven brothers.
