Caleb entered this life the way he left, loving life and giving 100 to it. He knew no stranger and considered everyone his friend. For those that knew Caleb you will understand what I am about to say, but to those that did not please listen and you will love our boy at the end. We could talk about his smile that would light up a room, or his goofy dancing that he thought was like Michael Jackson, or we could mention his love for the Cowboys or the Spurs, but that which was his greatest attribute was his heart His heart or shall we say his compassion for life, for people, for family and most of all, for God is how Caleb is known best.
There was no quit in Caleb, he put his all into everything he did He put his heart out for everyone to see. In football, basketball, tennis or golf, whether practice or game time or playing pickup games at the Teen Center a place that was his 2nd home, it was go time. His no quit attitude helped him to accomplish his goal, making the Hobbs Eagles basketball team, of which we are so proud of him. His heart bled black and gold His stature may have been short, his jump may not have been very high, but his heart is what could not be defeated
Hs heart is what made him love anyone. He would make friends with the one deemed the unpopular one at school. He would talk with those who were older, younger, or any age in between. He would give high fives to school staff, going into the office just to say hi, and he would certainly argue why the Longhorns, Cowboys and Spurs were superior teams. If you had a heartbeat you were his friend, regardless of how you might have viewed him. I guess you can say Caleb marched to his own beat, and that would be right, the beat of his heart
Calebs heart, his compassion is what moved him to his Savior Jesus the Christ. Our proudest moment in his life came when he gave his life to his Lord through baptism last year From that moment forward he served Jesus faithfully. Whether it was serving with his church family, the Jefferson St Church of Christ, who he loved immensely and leading them in song or simply in his every day walk, his compassion for Jesus was seen. This is why he never quit, this is why he loved everyone, this is why he loved life and gave 100 to it, because his heart was for the Lord.
We have mentioned Calebs heart, and all this was done while he was living, yet his last and possibly greatest statement of compassion happened after his death. Even in his death Caleb is helping others In the midst of our pain and tears we donated life to others. Calebs kidney and pancreas is helping one person, his other kidney helping another, other organs have gone to scientific research that will one day help thousands, and his HEART is presently inside a 9 year old child
This is our boy, our son, Caleb Martin. A portion of James 1:17 states every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above. May God be praised and honored for blessing us with Caleb Martin.
Funeral Services for Caleb will be Friday, 10:00 a.m. August 30th at Jefferson Street Church of Christ officiated by uncles, Chaplin, Rob Belton, and Dr. Michael Martin.
