Bobby Gene Goad

Bobby Gene Goad, 90, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 23 in Hobbs New Mexico surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He was born on December 12, 1933 in Choska Bottom, Oklahoma to Flossie Alma Smith Goad and John Perry Goad. Bob was one of 14 children who grew up living in a boxcar on the Arkansas river. After graduating from Muskogee high school, he hitchhiked to Idaho to join the US Forestry Service planting trees. At 21, he joined the US Army and served 2 years during the Korean war. Bob received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northeastern University in Tahlequah Oklahoma. He relocated to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1962. Over the next 28 years Bob was proud to have taught 3 generations of Hobbs students. Bob was a devoted father to 4 boys and 2 girls. He married Sandy, his wife of 44 years in 1979. He was an avid fitness enthusiast, swimmer, racquetballer, little league coach, and was a self-taught guitar player. After retiring in 1989, Bob continued working as a lifeguard, painter, builder, drivers-ed instructor, house renovator and was very involved in the theater community, building set designs for the Hobbs Community Playhouse.
He was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 6 brothers. Bob is survived by 1 sister Juanita Farguson of Argyle, Texas; his wife Sandra Kay Goad of Hobbs NM; son Bobby Goad II (Kay) of Hobbs NM; son Richard Goad (Jody) of Flower Mound Texas, son Doug Goad (Amy) of San Antonio Texas; son Kendall Goad (Nancy) of Hobbs NM; daughter Kelly “Suzy”(Robert Bagby) of Austin Texas; daughter Michaela Jill (Louis Pardo) of San Antonio Texas. Fourteen grandchildren Phillip Goad, Zach Goad, Jamie May, Adrienne Houston, Nathanial Lopez, Cord Crowder, Justin Goad, Joshua Goad, Lindsey Bagby, Lauren Bagby, Emily Bagby, Lane Bagby, Mia Pardo, and Garrett Pardo; and 9 Great Grandchildren.
Pastor Ty Bean will officiate the funeral service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at a later date at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Pallbearers will be all of his sons, Bobby Gene Goad II, Richard Goad, Doug Goad, Kendall Goad, Louis Pardo, and Robert Bagby.
