Billy Ward

Billy Clifton Ward, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed into his Saviors arms on April 24, 2014.

Bill was born on October 24, 1932 to A.C. and Irene Ward in Morton, Texas. He married his sweetheart, Barbara June Wallace Ward on November 7, 1952. Together they raised their three children Vicki, Kala, and Gregg in Walsenburg, Colorado, Morton and Seminole, Texas, and finally, Hobbs, New Mexico. The Ward home was a gathering place for family and friends with an open invitation.

He is survived by daughter Vicki Lynn Ancinec and husband Brad of Plains, Texas, Kala Denise Massey and husband Greg of Hobbs, New Mexico, and a son Billy Gregg Ward of Hobbs, New Mexico. He is also survived by a sister, Sandra Ward of Seminole, Texas, and brotherinlaw Bill Wallace of Odessa, Texas grandchildren Cory Cummings, Kelsie Smith, Kris Ward, Clif Ward, Kalee Rich, and Kagan Massey and 11 greatgrandchildren.

Billy is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara June Ward, his parents A.C. and Irene Ward, parentsinlaw B.F. and Elsie Mae Wallace, two brothers Arthur and Don Ward, two sisters, Betty Crow and Jeanette Terry, and a grandson, Joe Kent Ward.

Bill attended Seminole High School and Texas A M University, Class of 1952. He was self employed in farming and ranching. He was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. Having a real zest for life, he never met a stranger, had a heart of gold, loved spending time with family and friends, and could make any story come to life. He rode fast horses, roped wild cattle, and loved a beautiful woman.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Chapel of Hope, 3321 N. Dal Paso, with the family in attendance from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, Hobbs, New Mexico. Interment will be at Gaines County South Cemetery, Seminole, Texas, following the church service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or Taylor Memorial Baptist Church building fund.
