Graveside services for Billy Sylvirus Braziel of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Visitation is 8 a.m. - noon Monday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mr. Braziel, 85, died November 11, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born October 2, 1924, in Antlers, Oklahoma. He married Dorothy Baldwin in 1977. Mr. Braziel served in the 2520th Army Air Force as a tech sergeant during World War II in Europe. He came to Hobbs in 1946 with Two States Drilling He worked in the oil industry in South America and Saudi Arabia. He retired in 1982, working mostly for Parker Drilling.

Survivors inlude three daughters, Beth, Linda and Sharon; a sister-in-law, Mae Braziel of Lubbock, Texas; a cousin, Jimmie Nell Hamlin of Midwest City, Oklahoma; a cousin Jane Brookings of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two nephews, Kenny Braziel and B. A. Braziel; and a niece, Yvonne Braziel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvy B. and Ellen Doletta Braziel; his wife Dorothy Baldwin; and two brothers, A. M. Braziel and Harvy B. Braziel, Jr.
