Bill (Pa) passed from this life into eternity with our Lord and Savior on Friday, July 12 in Lubbock, TX. He was born on December 15, 1941 in Fillmore, OK to John Kenneth and Armenta (Chaney) Turner. He married the love of his life, Nell Collom, August 17, 1962 in Eunice, NM. This August they would have celebrated 57 years of marriage.
He has been a resident of Eunice, NM since 1950. Bill graduated high school in Eunice in 1960. He was proud of his ’58-’59 and ’59-’60 state football championship wins as a Eunice Cardinal. He always had a story to tell of their back to back undefeated seasons.
He had retired from Chevron in 1998 and served as a board member for the Eunice Medical Clinic. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Eunice.
Bill loved doing carpentry work and making furniture for his family members and local churches. He also volunteered his carpentry skills for missions, building housing on an Indian Reservation in Arizona. He enjoyed working on cars with his dad, brothers, and sons. He had a passion for repairing things, baking pecan pies and coconut cakes, reading, and music. But above all, he cherished his time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Scott Turner of Dolores, Colorado, and fiancé, JaLaine, Rance Turner and wife Christy of Lubbock, TX, sisters, Linda Riddle (Larry) of Cisco, TX and Pam Harrington (Harold) of Hobbs, NM, four granddaughters; Lynsey Turner (David) of Eunice, NM, Whitney Davis (Chris) of Denver City, TX, Bailey Turner (Scott) and Cydney Turner (Rigo) all of Lubbock, TX, four great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers; Dale and James, and one nephew.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Eunice or Saint Gabriel’s Hospice in Lubbock, TX.
