Betty Jo Schnaubert was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on June 14th, 1930, to William Jess Brownlee & Virgie Brownlee. She was the eldest of two children. She moved to Hobbs in 1954 and worked at the Harden Hotel where she met her husband, Thomas B. Schnaubert (Tootie). They were married 43 years and had five children: John Schnaubert, Jan Pearce and husband Steve Pearce, David Schnaubert, Diane Schnaubert, and Scott Schnaubert and husband Billy Joe Schnaubert. She had 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Betty passed at her home on September 28, 2022, surrounded with loving family.
Betty worked at the family business until she became a realtor in the 1980’s. She worked for Velma Makin and others until she became employed by Donnie Roberts for a span of 20 years plus. Betty had her broker’s license and was very successful in her career, even making the Million Dollar Club on many occasions.
Betty was a loving mother. Lots of family called her “Granny” and to some she was “Mama”. She traveled the world. Her favorite place to visit was London, England. She had many friends who loved her including Diane Daniel who was a big part of her life. Betty was beautiful, outgoing, and she was always up for a good time with family and friends. Betty volunteered as a Pink Lady at the local hospital for many years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her husband, son David Schnaubert, daughter Diane Schnaubert, and Emma Lewis who was a very dear friend of the family for years. Betty will be sorely missed by many. She had a heart of gold. A special thank you to Jodi Canava and Star care hospice for helping us with mom these last couple of years.
