Betty Garner passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at UMC in Lubbock, Tx, on August 17, 2022. There will be a Memorial Service at Chapel of Hope on August 24 at 3:00pm in Hobbs, NM.

Betty was born March 15, 1941 in Hamilton, Tx to John and Bobba (Alice) Huckabee. She married Jack Garner on December 28, 2005.

Betty was a strong willed and independent woman that loved her family and friends. She worked many years as a bookkeeper, tax preparer, and was a business owner, these were some of her many talents. She was an avid bowler she was the City Secretary of WIBC of Hobbs. She loved growing cactus, crafting, doing all kinds of puzzles and she was a collector of “unique treasures”. She also liked sitting on her porch and watching the birds with her fur babies Toby, Shadows, Sammy and Reba.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents John and Bobba (Alice) Huckabee, 3 brothers Huck (John), Jack, and Jerry Huckabee and one sister Wanda Watson, and 3 grandsons John Chaffin, Kasey Ericksen, and Shawn Davison.

Betty is survived by her husband Jack Garner, her children Lloyd Jr (Linda) Davison of Dickson, TN, Liz (Danny) Henson of Hobbs, NM, Sabrina (Krist) Ericksen of Hobbs, NM, Aaron (Debra) Davison of Monahans, Tx, Michael Garner of Cushing, Ok, Harold Corny of Phoenix, Az, Sisters Vickie Watson, Jo Etta Hart, and sister-in-law Peggy Huckabee of Big Spring, Tx and a brother Jimmy (Iwana) Huckabee of Chandler, Tx, 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and other family members and close friends Jerry and Viola Baker of Lovington, NM and many other friends.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Desert Gardens and Star Care for the care of our Mother Betty Garner. Thanks also to the nurses and staff at UMC for the Kindness and support during the time of her passing. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the Animal Humane Society of your choice.
