Betty Burris

Funeral services for Betty Burris, 68, of Hobbs, will be Friday, November 12, 2010, 10:00 at the Prairie Haven Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor David Matkins Pastor John Ayers officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Chapel of Hope from 8 a.m. 6:30 p.m. with the family being in attendance from 4 p.m. 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. 8:30 a.m. Interment will be at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Betty died November 5, 2010, at her sons home in Buford, Georgia. She was born to Edmond and Evelyn Fitzgerald on April 10, 1942, in Marshall, Texas. Betty married Ernest Delbert Burris, Jr. December 2, 1962, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He preceded her in death December 23, 2005. She was a member of Fellowship of Believers.

Burris was the library secretary at the College of the Southwest for many years. She was a member of the Kennel Club and was very active in the Relay for Life for several years. Betty supported the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure any way she could. She was so proud of her family and loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by her faithful companion, B.B.

Betty is survived by two sons, Jeff and wife Stacie of Mounds, Oklahoma, and Brian and wife Denise of Buford, Georgia her sister, Shirley and husband Odie Russell of Hobbs her mother, Evelyn Fitzgerald of Hobbs four grandchildren, Ashley Burris of Buford, Georgia, Erin Taylor Burris, Zack Burris, and Chris Burris all of Mounds, Oklahoma one greatgrandchild, Lyanne Taylor of Mounds, Oklahoma numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Edmond Joseph Fitzgerald.
