Bennetta Dee Holdridge of Hobbs, N.M., passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008, at her home after a courageous batshy;tle with pancreatic cancer. She was 75 years old.
Bennetta was born January 14, 1933, in Hobbs to Bennett and Etta Dee Caudill. The Caudill famshy;ily later moved to Odessa, Texas, where Bennetta graduated from Odessa High School in 1951. It was there that she met her husband, Rob L. Holdridge. Prior to their wedding June 8, 1952, Bennetta attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. The couple moved to Hobbs in 1959. Bennetta began as an adminisshy;trative assistant with Getty Oil Company, which later became Texaco. She retired from Texaco in 1989.
Rob and Bennetta were blessed with two children, Michael Wayne and Leah Ann. Bennetta enjoyed being in the kitchen and sewing, as well as the regular Saturday morning Wal-Mart runs with her daughter and grandkids. She loved being with her family and finding a good bargain. Bennetta always wanted to help someone else. Grandma will be rememshy;bered as a devoted wife and mother, loving grandma and loyal friend. She was a memshy;ber of First Baptist Church of Hobbs. She was also a member of the Hobbs Desk Derrick Association for many years.
Bennetta will remain in the hearts of her love of 56 years, Rob L. Holdridge; her son, Mike Holdridge and friend Sharon Schaefer; her daughshy;ter, Leah Pierce and husband Tom, all of Hobbs. Her sisters, Mildred Carter and Gladys Jelinek of Hobbs, will also miss her. She will be rememshy;bered as Grandma to Waylon Holdridge and fiancee Eva Fehr, Coy Holdridge, Tyson Pierce and wife Brenda and Mandy Holdridge, all of Hobbs, and Masey Doss and husband Ryan of Carrollton, Texas. She will be rememshy;bered as Grandma Netta to the great-grandbabies: Haylie, Taylor and Corbin Holdridge, Conagher and McKayla Pierce and Jonathon Klassen, all of Hobbs. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She is going to be with her parents and sisters, Katherine Brothers, Geraldine Kersey and Daphna Williams.
Services will be l1 a.m.
Saturday October 11, 2008, under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Billy Chidester, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hobbs, will be officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
