alignjustifyA funeral service for Ben Wimberly of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Chapel of Hope. Mike Kennedy, minister, will officiate.
alignjustifyBurial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
alignjustifyVisitation will be Monday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. with the family in attendance from 5-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
alignjustifyMr. Wimberly, 75, died June 18, 2009, at Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa, Texas. He was born July 27, 1933, in Lovington, New Mexico. He married Mauri Lyons Wimberly on April 10, 1993, in Hobbs.
alignjustifyBen lived the major part of his life in Hobbs. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Ben owned his own airplane and throughly enjoyed being a pilot. He liked football. Ben's greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren.
alignjustifySurvivors include his wife, Mauri Wimberly of Hobbs; one son, Bill Wimberly and wife Barbara of El Paso, Texas; two daughters, Gayla Susie Chapman and husband Randy of Vernon, Texas, and Shelley Krepfl and husband Mike of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Paul Sileo and wife Amanda of Manchester, Missouri, Linn Conrad and husband Darren of Kyle, Texas, Kaitlin Krepfl of Albuquerque, Kate Wimberly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lauren Wimberly of Oklahoma City, and Sarah Briemling and husband Reed of Japan; great-grandchildren Matthew and Meagan Conrad of Kyle, Texas; one sister, Tootsie Hopper and husband Joe of Albuquerque; and a very special brother-in-law, Chris Lyons of Hobbs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B.E. and Eva King Wimberly and a sister, Evelyn Strawn.
