Belin Ortega

Belin Rascon Ortega, matriarch of the Ortega family, was called home Monday, September 13, 2010. She was born September 2, 1932, in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Francisco B. Ortega of Hobbs a son, Sal Doporto and wife Corina of Albuquerque, New Mexico daughter, Corine Wilson and husband Scott of Carlsbad daughter, Linda Doporto of Denver, Colorado son, Robert Rascon and wife, Lupe, of Van Horn, Texas son, Frank Ortega, Jr. of Albuquerque daughter Chriselda Love of Hobbs daughter, Debbie Aranda and husband, Efren, of Lubbock daughter, Pat Rowley of Albuquerque and daughter, Angela Pinon and husband, David, of Hobbs.

Also surviving are her 21 grandchildren, 33 greatgrandchildren and 1 greatgreatgrandchild two brothers, Roy Rascon of Hobbs and Raul Rascon of Prescott, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her father, Senon Rascon in 1976, her mother, Enriqueta Rascon in 1984, sister Juana Rascon, and brothers Roberto Rascon and Isaa Rascon.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010, from 8 a.m. 8 p.m. at Chapel of Hope which is in charge of arrangements. There will be a rosary at 6 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. at St. Helenas Catholic Church Thursday, September 16, 2010, with interment at Memory Gardens to follow.

Mrs. Ortega was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church. She received her nursing aide degree in 1974, and volunteered for the March of Dimes, sewed, crocheted and was an avid reader. She married Francisco Ortega in Hobbs on April 21, 1955.
