Our community has sadly lost a pillar Friday, August 14, 2020 when Mrs. Beatrice Benavides favorably known as Mrs. B passed away. Her contributions to the lives of many included being the PTA president at Edison elementary in the 80's and 90's where she would help the school sale popcorn, pickles, granola etc. plus, she could also keep a close eye on her boys. She was also a faithful servant at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her greatest honor was being a grandmother and great-grandmother for they were her pride and joy. Mrs. B is survived by the loving community of Hobbs, her five sons; Jose Benavides, Ignacio Benavides, Jeraldo Benavidez, Jesse Benavides, and Paul Benavides along with their wives and children. Mrs. B is also survived by her four brothers; Tony Villarreal, Charlie Villarreal, Jesse Villarreal, and George Villarreal and their wives and children, two sisters; Benita Evans, and Manuela Serrano and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband Ventura Benavides, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jose Villarreal and three brothers; Jose Villarreal Jr, Lupe Villarreal, and Oscar Villarreal. Her legacy will live in our hearts and minds forever.
