Ashton Keith

December 11, 2000 — June 14, 2021

Hobbs

Ashton Christopher Keith was born on December 11, 2000, in Austin, Texas. He passed away on June 14, 2021, in Hobbs, NM.

Ashton loved being outside and working with his hands. He loved to fish and hunt and he loved to work on the ranch with the Jones family. He loved working cattle, mending fences and riding horses. Ashton was gifted when it came to learning new things. He was musically inclined and could play the piano by ear. He also learned how to play the violin and guitar. Anything that had to do with mechanics or engineering came naturally to him. Many times, he was self-taught.

Ashton had a deep love for his family and cherished the time they spent together.  Ashton’s grandparents taught him a strong work ethic, and encouraged his love for learning how to weld, forge, and make knives. From growing his own hay to building a tractor and rebuilding old trucks to baking his own homemade bread, Ashton was a young man of many talents. He also loved cooking family meals.

Ashton was blessed to be part of a family who taught him about God and His promises. They instilled a foundation of faith and he loved Jesus very much. He was baptized when he was fourteen.

Ashton began a career as a mechanic, currently working as a skilled technician apprentice at Tate Branch.

He will always be remembered for being an old soul. He loved old things from an early age: cars, trucks, tractors, and he had a special place in his heart for the elderly and enjoyed helping them. Those who knew him would say that he thrived on laughing and making others laugh. He had a kind, genuine heart and a million-dollar smile. He touched the lives of so many, this beloved, beautiful son. He lived a life of great accomplishment and promise.  He was a gift from God, and he will be missed beyond measure.

Ashton is survived by his wife, CheyAnn Rusk and son, Tripp Levi Keith of Hobbs, NM, mother, Hillary Blevins of Hobbs, NM, father, Chris and wife Mindy Keith of Buda, TX, grandparents John and Elaine Hood of Hobbs, NM, a sister Vivian Keith of Austin, TX, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Ashton was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dennis Keith, maternal grandfather, Lee Roberts, an uncle, Mark Lee Roberts, and great-grand parents, Sam and Effie Jones.
