Arnold Dean Spears (AD), Age 84 of Lovington passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2022. He was surrounded by his family who loved him very much.
AD was born second of seven brothers and sisters on March 31, 1938, to Arlie and Corrine Spears. He attended Levelland High School and graduated in 1956. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 and in 1964, he married Myrtle Lorene Powell.
AD worked tirelessly in the oilfield as a roughneck, driller, and tool pusher for many years providing for his family. With a seven-day work week schedule, he was always at his son or daughters school activities.
AD was an active fan of the Lovington Wildcats, especially the baseball team. He was always proud of his community in Lovington.
Throughout AD’s life, he loved camping and fishing in the mountains of southern Colorado.
After his retirement, AD enjoyed maintaining a small pecan orchard and property in Lovington. He harvested and sold pecans to many people in Lovington. He also loved making and selling lemon pecan pies to the community. During the spring and summer months, AD would travel to Platoro, Colorado where he would fish and enjoy life with his family. He loved to talk and meet people.
Preceding him in passing are his parents, Arlie and Corrine Spears and one brother, Loy Spears.
Left to enjoy the memories are his wife of 58 years, Myrtie Spears, daughter Rebecca Starkey and husband Shayne of Eunice, son Toby Spears of Hobbs, grandson Tory Duda of Lubbock, Texas, grandson Brady Spears and wife Christine of Waco, Texas, brother Elton (Bugs) Spears and wife Jeanie of Levelland, Texas, sister Frankie Pond of Silsbee, Texas, brother Jack Spears and wife Linda of Seminole, Texas, sister Geneva Spears of Evergreen, Colorado, sister BJ Sandhop and husband Garland of Inez, Texas. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
