Archie Ralph Hemken, born on February 7, 1945, in Fairfax, Oklahoma, was called home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2024, at the age of 79 in Lubbock, Texas. Though he journeyed through life in various places, Archie found his earthly home in Hobbs, New Mexico, where he lived most of his days, but now rejoices in his eternal home with Christ. He had recently moved to Lubbock, Texas to be closer to their only grandchild, Sunni Corral.
On December 13, 1962, Archie married his beloved wife, Jan Hemken, with whom he shared a sacred bond rooted in Christ's love. They were married on December 13, 1962, in Andrews Texas. Together, they walked in faith, built a life centered on God's blessings, and nurtured a family filled with love, until Jan was called to her heavenly reward. Archie's love for Jan was a reflection of his deep faith, and he carried her memory in his heart until the day he was reunited with her in the presence of the Lord.
Archie's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication to his family. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Debbie Hemken, and his treasured granddaughter, Sunni Corral, along with her husband, Roger Corral. His faith also extended to his brothers, Marty Wallace and wife Sherry Wallace, and Richard Wallace, and their families, all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Henry Hemken; his stepmother, Mary Elizabeth Hemken; and his mother, Teresa Finney, who are now with him in the glorious presence of our Savior.
Archie's life was marked by his commitment to Christ and service to others. He was a devoted member of his church, where he faithfully attended services and lived out the teachings of Jesus. His heart for service extended beyond his church community, as he was also a proud Mason, dedicating his time to helping others in need. Archie served his country with honor as a soldier in the United States Army, demonstrating his faith through his actions and love for his fellow man.
Archie found joy in the simple blessings of life that God provided. He had a deep love for Oklahoma Sooner football, Texas Tech sports, and the Dallas Cowboys. He delighted in the beauty of God's creation, whether it was tending to his garden, helping Jan with their beloved plants, or spending time in the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico. Archie's sweet tooth was a testament to his belief that every good and perfect gift comes from above, and he enjoyed indulging in chocolates and sweets as a reminder of God's goodness.
Above all, Archie will be remembered for his steadfast love for his family and friends, a love that reflected the love of Christ. He was a caring, generous, and hardworking man who touched the lives of many with his kindness and faith. Archie's greatest legacy is the love he poured out on his wife, Jan, his daughter, Debbie, and his granddaughter, Sunni, as well as the countless others who were blessed to know him.
Though Archie Ralph Hemken has left this world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew.
