Annette Euing

October 19, 1932 — March 9, 2019

Annette Rudean Sandlin married Edwin Earl Euing on Nov 18, 1950 in Paducah, Texas. They were the talk of the town as they rode their Harley-Davidson motorcycle around the Texas country roads with their friends. That free spirit remained with Annette through-out her life time as she and Ed move from the farm to the oil field in 1954 with a toddler, Cynthia, in tow. In years following the family grew with the addition of Becky and Brad. While Ed ran his business, Packer Sales and Rental, Annette ran everything else. She had a knack for organization which she shared while volunteering as Sunday School secretary for Castle Avenue Baptist Church, secretary for the women's Tuesday morning bowling league and the couple's evening league at Bel Aire Bowl, and secretary/treasurer of the Chaparral Square Dance Club. A yearly two-week family vacation in Colorado would be spent at Blue Creek Lodge or Fun Valley with square dancing and fishing fun. Annette and Ed enjoyed a second home in Del Rio, Texas at Lake Amistad. They would bring back bass for a great backyard fish fry. They were members of the Hobbs Bass Club. Annette's children have memories of playing cards and laughing until they cried. When school was out she waited for the girls to return from school to sit on the floor and play an exciting card game of "Nerts." Her love of cards would continue through life with the addition of "Skipbo" and "Hand and Foot." Annette was a stylish woman with many talents. She was a wonderful seamstress with which her two girls benefitted as they had a closet full of dresses. In later years she began to make quilts. One Christmas she made everyone in the family a quilt. There are fond memories of the hours spent in the fabric store...literally many, many hours... as she and her girls would choose patterns, fabric and notions for the next dress or project. One particular project which has a special place in the hearts of the girls, is the Banner of Jesus that was used in the Living Christmas Tree at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, which is where Annette was a member. Even though residing in New Mexico most of her adult life, Annette would proudly proclaim as she drove across the state line "I just looooove Texas!"
