Funeral services for Anna Elizabeth Beth Griffin, 81, of Hobbs, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with son, Jim Griffin, officiating. Interment will be after services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday 2 5 p.m. and Wednesday, January 19, 8 a.m. 8 p.m. Beth died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Desert Gardens in Hobbs. She was born February 23, 1929, in Ballinger, Texas,to Frederick and Edna Caudle. She married James A. Jim Griffin December 17, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas. He passed from this life June 25, 2009.
She was a fiftysix year resident of Hobbs and had worked as an advertising representative for the Hobbs News Sun for 18 years. Beth was a member of the Womens Golf Association and First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school to 3 and 4 year olds and sold Avon door to door for ten years. She loved golf, gardening, feeding the birds, going to the mountains and enjoyed the outofdoors. She was a great cook and made lots of candy. She was a Coyboy fan and loved Hobbs Eagle basketball since the 50s.
Beth is survived by her son, Jim B. Griffin and wife Barbara, of Houston Texas her daughter, Jana May and husband Lloyd of Hobbs six grandchildren, Brian and Kamie May of Hobbs, Angie Hawkins of Great Mills, Maryland, Jay Griffin of Jacksonville, Florida, Julie Huggins of Union City, Tennessee, and Jara Walden of Auburn, Alabama 18 greatgrandchildren one sisterinlaw, Mary Virginia Bracken of Emmett, Idaho and numerous nieces.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House or March of Dimes.
