Mrs. Anna Coffey Burns, age 60, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 4, 2024. She was born May 15, 1964, in Durant, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late James and Rubye Coffey.
Anna was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Coffey, and sister, Bettye Coffey.
She was a Temple Baptist Church member and a wonderful math educator at Hobbs High School. She attained her doctorate in mathematics and is currently pursuing her master's in coding. She enjoyed teaching her students robotics and coding at CTech, being involved with SkillsUSA, and serving as the head coach for Esports. She also served as the president of the DKG Alpha Lambda sorority. More than anything else, she loved spending as much time as possible with her grandson.
Anna is survived and missed by her husband, Jimmy Burns, of 43 years. One son and daughter in "love," Coty and Heather Burns, and one grandson, Tylor James Burns of Fort Moore, Georgia. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
