On July 21, 2019, our hearts broke when our beloved Cha-Cha ran into the arms of her best friend, God. Peace sustains our family because we know her destination is the ultimate prize that we all cannot wait to win. Our momma was a mighty and faithful servant who could not get enough of the fellowship at Taylor Street Church of Christ. We cannot thank her church family enough for loving her big and accepting her out loud prayers that were said with uplifted hands.
Our mom never sat still. At any given moment you could find her house completely re-painted or rearranged. She also had a wicked green thumb who plants adored and obeyed or else they would be grounded to the outdoors. Mom also possessed an artistic, creative passion that allowed her to envision something that she was always able to bring to fruition through one of her many ongoing sewing and crafting projects.
Anita was born in Brownsville, Texas on November 21, 1955. She was blessed to retire from the Postal Service in 2008 at which time she became a stay at home grandma to Keidis Gianni and Dalas Grae. Her “babies” were the loves of her life who upon their birth became the beat of her heart. Cha-Cha is responsible for their water doggy ways and golfing technique. She also taught them the power of prayer and the love of the Lord.
Anita and her husband, Dwight, were preparing to celebrate 40 years of marriage by renewing their vows on their anniversary, August 31, 2019. Dwight and Anita were a rock solid example of through thick and thin. As in any marriage, theirs was tested but their renewed commitment to Christ taught them a deep, respect and love for another which created an inseparable bond that anyone could stand to emulate.
Anita is also survived by her two daughters Alicia F. Medina and Sarah Ramirez. Anita was the eldest of 3 siblings, Elodia Cano, Joe Zuniga and Martin Zuniga. Anita’s mother, Manuela Zuniga also shrives along with numerous nieces and nephews who have all created families of their own.
