Alyssa Shelby Pennington was born on March 18, 2003, in Hobbs, New Mexico to Shelby and Jill. She passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, April 9, 2023.
Alyssa graduated from Hobbs High School in 2021 and soon after she and her mom opened up Itsy Bitzy. Though her mom did all the work we all knew who the boss was. Whether she was driving around town with her mom or watching her mom be creative behind the computer screen she enjoyed spending each day with her mom.
To know Alyssa was to love her. Her vibrant spirit was contagious, and her beautiful smile could light up any room. Though here on earth she was limited in what she was able to do we are happy knowing, now she is pain-free, walking, running, and talking in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Shelby L. Pennington. She is survived by her parents Eli and Jill Gomez of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Shelby and Brooke Pennington of Midland, Texas; big brother Nathan (Karina) Pennington of Clovis, New Mexico, younger brother Preston Gomez and little sister Audri Gomez both of Hobbs, New Mexico. Maternal grandparents Jim Rhymes of Kermit, Texas, Bertha and Danny Guadarrama of Kermit, Texas; Paternal grandparents Jesus and Yolanda Rios of Hobbs, New Mexico and Delores Pennington of Hobbs, New Mexico; Aunts Melissa Sonnier of Kermit, Texas, Crystal (Angel) Hernandez of Hobbs, New Mexico and Amy Padron of Hobbs, New Mexico, Uncle Tim Rios of Hobbs, New Mexico; cousins, Jordan Sonnier, Zach Rhymes, Jayce Sonnier, Lexie Sonnier, Myla Sonnier, Jerek Garcia, Araceli Hernandez, and Zeruiah Hernandez.
In celebration of Alyssa’s life please wear bright colors and come with a happy heart and a smile on your face just as she would want.
