Alfred Lee Young was born on December 12, 1942 in Hobbs, NM. He attended Booker T. Washington and graduated from Hobbs High School in 1959. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Hobbs. Al spent his professional career in the oilfields of New Mexico. He worked 38 years for Amerada Hess and five years as a consultant for ConocoPhillips. If not at work or at home, he would be on a golf course working on his long game. Al loved fast sports cars especially Corvettes. His sports cars were always immaculate! In 2018, he and his wife Wanda relocated to Arlington, TX where he started his new profession as "fulltime professional grandpa!"
Al gained his wings on May 4, 2024 in Dallas, Texas.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, Thera and Opal Marshall, his daughter Kim Hicks, brother Bryant Marshall, sisters Bobbie Deboskie Thomas, Jo Ann Marshall Clay and Cheryl Marshall.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years Wanda Young of Arlington TX, sons Alfred Young of Dallas, TX and Julian Young of Lubbock, TX; brothers - Jimmy Marshall and Thera (Kathy) Marshall of Hobbs, NM; sisters Dana Pettis and Donna Vaughn of Albuquerque, NM; 24 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
