My love and respect go out to all of you and, certainly, to Hershel. He was a friend of over 50 years...and very fine friend! We met in gym class at Hobbs High in 1962. Our lockers were assigned to us alphabetically according to our last name...Baugh and Beal would naturally be close to each other. Hershel was a kind, gentle giant with a big smile on his face at all times. It always made my day we ran in to each other, usually at one of Hobbs' finest restaurants because we both enjoyed good food. He was a hard worker and a person who cared for others. He will be missed by many and especially by me! Again, my thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family and I assure you all that the world was a better place while Hershel walked the grounds of Lea County. My favorite quote is "the real meaning of life is the planting of trees under whose shade you never plan to sit" by Nelson Henderson. Hershel exemplified that quote and its personal meaning to me!
God bless you all and my love to you!

I have known Hershel since we were kids...13...and he was such a good person. The last time I saw him was at my first book signing in Hobbs. I know he will be greatly missed, and I will always remember him fondly.
